General municipal elections are held every four years on the first Sunday in November.
The next election will be held on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025. Citizens will be able to vote
to elect a mayor and six councilors.

Good to know

  • Advance voting : Sunday, October 26, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m;
  • Voting day : Sunday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Who can vote?

To vote in the municipal election, you must meet certain conditions. These include :

You must also meet one of the following two conditions:

  • Be domiciled in the municipality and, for at least six months, in Québec;
  • Be, for at least 45 days, the owner of a building or the occupant of a business establishment located on the territory of the municipality.

Who can run for a board position?

To vote in the municipal election, you must meet certain conditions. These include:

  • Any person who is entitled to be registered on the municipality’s electoral list;
  • Any person who has resided continuously or otherwise on the territory of the municipality for at least 12 months as of September 1 of the calendar year in which the general election is to be held.

To submit your candidacy, you must submit a duly completed declaration of candidacy
to the returning officer of the Town of Stanstead,
starting on September 19 and ending on October 3, 2025, no later than 4:30 p.m.
