As a border town, we are lucky to be neighbors with the Village of Derby Line in the state of Vermont with whom we share services such as water and sewer – a unique situation in North America! We also have numerous international buildings here in Stanstead, such as the Haskell Library and Opera House, intentionally built on the border in 1904.
Various industries offer important employment opportunities in the region. As a bilingual municipality, employers are indulged with a bilingual workforce that can communicate efficiently with francophones and anglophones alike – indiscriminately and in the language of their choice.
